Jim Lestrange

Jim Lestrange is a multi-instrumentalist and plays hammered dulcimer, guitar and bass.

Besides backing Lise’s vocal performances, Jim is well versed in many instrumentals by Renaissance composers, most notably, Turlough O’Carolan (1670-1738) and English Country Dance (1600s).Jim began playing music at age 12 accompanying Lawrence Older, the legendary "Adirondack Minstrel" and Newport Folk Festival artist active in the folk revival of the sixties.

In his twenties Jim built a hammered dulcimer. In his early music career, he played at numerous festivals and dances throughout the northeast. He has performed on stage with Paul VanArsdale (hammered dulcimer), Vic Kibler (Adironack fiddle) and been a member of numerous bands including the contradance band, Fresh Squeezed String Band, the bluegrass band, Prograss, the traditional string band, Hilltop String Band, and the Celtic and maritime folk band, Skuttlebutt.
